當我看到大寶法王與佛母美好的姻緣時,一點兒也不意外;甚至以後他作的任何事情,我也不會訝異。並非是死忠,而是我相信釋迦牟尼佛曾經說過,噶瑪巴是師子吼如來!
法王在這個世代,自在從容的公布這個決定時,他的甚深禪修與悲憫的視野,怎麼不會對傳承與眾生有更深層的愛呢?
釋迦牟尼佛在諸多大乘經典中,宣導重大的法要時,都是很顛覆性的。在法華經,有五千人當著佛陀在開示時退席⋯,許多弟子惶恐,認為僧團會受到影響。佛只是淡淡的說:「去除枝葉,留下真實。」維摩詰經:「從痴有愛,則我病生。」「眾生有病,是故我病。」
「依了義,不依不了義。」
我們自己的勝解,來自自我的充實。在此瞬息變化的世間,看到了世界的種種法相才不會迷惑,看到了法王殊勝的教授,才能解惑。
或許我們過去對法王的信心來自於自己的喜愛與感動,當他的開示一直是正面的,我們一直習慣與歡喜。但他的行為擁有深意但讓我們不能認同(認識)時,我們就依然運用「情愛」與「期望」的心態去看待,因而失去了信心,依舊墮入舊思維的框架裡。
如果十地菩薩的行徑有錯,我們評論祂的作法不當,不是犯下更大的錯誤嗎?密宗弟子對根本上師信心清淨至為重要,我們不能了解上師的任何示現時,切勿輕率的批判與譭謗,以免逾越三昧耶戒,造成自己修行上的障礙。
所以,我們除了祝福與感謝法王的佈教之外,擔心與徬惶都是多餘的!
順便一提,有了顯教的基礎~般若智慧,才能趣入祕密的莊嚴。
When I look at the beautiful marriage of HH Karmapa and his consort, I'm not stunned at all. Even for anything that he will do in the future, I won't feel surprised either. It's not due to blind faith, but because I believe the prophecy from Buddha Shakyamuni, saying that Karmapa is the Buddha of Roaring Lion.
In this generation, Karmapa announced the decision at unruffled ease. With his deep meditation and compassionate eyesight, how would he not have deeper love toward the lineage and sentient beings.
The very important teachings given by Buddha Shakyamuni in many Mahayana sutras were all very innovative. In The Lotus Sutra, 5000 left the venue while Buddha Shakyamuni was giving a teaching. A lot of his disciples panicked and worried that Sangha (the monk groups) will be affected. Buddha himself replied calmly, “It’s to remove the branches and leaves, but leaves the core” The Vimalakirti Sutra says, “From ignorance and desire comes sickness of sentient beings. Bodhisattvas come to the world for the sentient beings, so they would also somehow experience the sickness.”

The real understanding comes from self-enrichment. Only by this, in this ever changing world, we then wouldn’t feel confused of seeing all these different phenomena, including HH Karmapa’s outstanding teaching.

Perhaps we have been having faith toward Karmapa just because of ourselves having the feeling of love and being touched. When his teachings remain positive and understandable , we get used to it and feel happy about it. However, once his action gets profound and seems unacceptable, we still view it with the perspective of our “love” and expectations, and therefore lose our faith, falling into the old frame of thinking.
If the tenth-stage Bodhisattva really made a mistake, would it not have been a bigger mistake for us to criticize his action? It’s crucially important for Vajrayana practitioners to have clear faith toward the root teacher. When we can’t understand any of the manifestation from the root teacher, do not recklessly criticize or slander in order not to break the samaya precept and not to cause obstacles for ourselves.
Therefore, let’s congratulate HH Karmapa and thank him for his teaching. Put away all the worries and hesitation. Besides, only on top of the base of wisdom, there is a way leading to the outstanding Vajrayana practice.
